How to Buy a Home For Sale that is a Short SaleShort sales on property sales in which the liens on the property are greater than what the property is worth. The proceeds are SHORT of covering the debt, hence the term short sales.
Buying a short sale is usually a long and complicated process, but it can be done. It involves many more steps than purchasing a home directly from a home owner. Each lien holder has a slightly different protocol, but the process involves a significant time commitment from the buyer, seller, and the real estate agents involved.
If your home search includes a short sale, it is important that you understand the process and that it can take months to get a short sale approved. If you need to move right away, a short sale may not be the best option for you. If you do not have any time pressures, then you might want to include short sales in your home search. It is extremely important that you will want to make sure that you are working with a real estate agent and a real estate firm that has broad knowledge and experience in short sales.
